WHEREAS, the Unitarian Universalist 7th principle calls on its members to affirm and promote respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part, and

WHEREAS, the Unitarian Universalist Association’s 2006 Statement of Conscience on The Threat of Global Warming/Climate Change, declares that we, as Unitarian Universalists, will not acquiesce to the ongoing degradation and destruction of life on planet Earth, and

WHEREAS, the Unitarian Universalist Association calls us to halt practices that cause global climate change, to commit to sustainable energy alternatives, and to mitigate the impending effects of global climate change with just and ethical responses, and

WHEREAS, on Friday, December 19, 2008, Tim DeChristopher took extraordinarily bold and courageous action by bidding on and winning leases for 22,000 acres of Utah lands, thereby protecting them from oil and gas drilling and calling national attention to the climate crisis,
